The Team

As part of the Engineering organization, Power Con v ers ion develops the technologies that efficiently transform reactor-generated heat into usable electrical power . The team focuses on maximizing system performance, reliability, and commercial viability.

The Role

Valar Atomics is seeking a turbo machinery aerodynamics engineer to join the turbo machinery team and advance power generation capability. In this role,you’llbe responsible forthe aerodynamic design ofcutting-edgeturbomachinery for power generation.

You’llbe working withcross-functional team members to define a manufacturable,high efficiency, robust design.

As an early hire in turbo machinery, you will be able to directly influence design decisions on the system architecture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conductmeanlineand streamline analysis of turbo machinery designs
  • Analyze turbo machinery components using3D CFD
  • Conduct trade studies of turbo machinery configurations including stage count, shrouded/unshrouded designs, axial/radial configurations
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanicalor Aerospace Engineering
  • Experience analyzing turbo machinery (Turbines, Compressors, Turbochargers, Turboexpanders, Blowers, Turbopumps, etc.)
  • Experience with meanlineand streamline analysis of turbo machinery
  • Experience with 3D CFD simulations of turbo machinery
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Master's degree in Mechanicalor Aerospace Engineering
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, postprocessing, assembly, inspection procedures for turbo machinery
  • Experience with supercritical C02
  • Experience with unsteady simulations of turbo machinery
  • Experience with thermodynamic cycle analysis
  • Experience with commercially available turbo machinery design packages (AxStream, Concepts NREC, NPSS OTAC)
