Sr Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Finance)
In this role, you will provide technical expertise as a Mechanical Design subject matter expert in the integration of Honeywell Aerospace systems into aircraft and the development or turbo machinery and heat transfer products. You will lead mechanical design efforts and have technical responsibility for the entire design definition of product related to turbo machinery, heat transfer, and/or entire environmental control systems. You will serve as a mechanical design subject matter expert during proposal and RFI response efforts.
You will provide reports to internal and external customer stakeholders. You will lead efforts to resolve supplier, production, and customer issues. You will champion the advancement of mechanical design tools and processes (design automation, digital product definition, etc.). You will mentor less experienced members of the design team. You will guide designs across the design team's multiple products to improve design for manufacturability and reduce cost utilizing advanced design concepts and tools (part standardization, guide files, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-discipline design collaboration to assemble and integrate Honeywell Aerospace System Packs.
- Champion design standards and methods within the larger design team.
- Lead design efforts within the Mechanical Design Engineering team.
- Provide Internal and External customer support for Systems, Turbo, and Heat Transfer products.
- Lead the advancement of digital engineering within the design team.
- Improve existing mechanical designs engineering processes by identifying and eliminating non-value-added tasks and introducing automation (guide files, parametric design, AI, etc.).
- Mentore less-experienced designers.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- At least 7 years of experience in the mechanical design of integrating components and systems for commercial and military aircraft applications.
- At least 7 years of experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD software.
- At least 7 years of experience with Siemens Teamcenter or similar PLM software.
- At least 7 years of experience using GD&T.
- Ability to support multiple projects.
- Willingness to learn, apply, and mentor others on new design concepts and methodologies.
- Prior experience working with the integration of Honeywell Aerospace Systems in aircraft.
- Prior experience working with Environmental Control Systems, Turbo machinery and Heat Transfer products.
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor others.
- Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Expertise in NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience with new product development and systems integration design in an aerospace environment.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems.
