Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing, maintaining, and analyzing accounting management information including general ledger activity through financial statements. Communication with staff in all departments is paramount, ensuring that the accounting needs of all departments are met effectively and efficiently.
What You Will Be Doing- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, comparative reports, and cost reports.
- Analyze, review, and adjust income and expense information as to adequacy, form, and source.
- Maintain general ledger, including preparing financial schedules and writing journal entries.
- Maintain cash schedules, inspect account status, and transfer cash as necessary to cover disbursements.
- Conduct reconciliations of balance sheet asset and liability accounts to ensure correctness. Identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- 5+ years of professional accounting experience. Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws that apply to the duties of the position.
- Knowledge of accounting practices to understand and interpret various accounting systems.
- Knowledge of budgeting and cost accounting principles.
