About the Role:
As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers play a key role in delivering the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. Under guidance from the Float Manager, Branch Managers, and Assistant Branch Managers, the Teller
- Float role primarily ensures banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations. The Teller
- Float role may travel within a geographic area to cover branches in need of staffing support. The role involves performing teller transactions and cash handling functions for clients with accuracy and confidentiality, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balancing the cash drawer.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of the branch operations, using appropriate controls (e.g., double custody for ATM balance), processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing the credit card machine, updating lobby rate sheets and brochures, and ensuring the safekeeping and prompt transfer of funds to mitigate risk. The role requires interactions with external and internal clients, anticipating needs, and providing proactive solutions and problem resolutions aligned with the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards.
Continuous learning about Columbia Bank’s products and services and staying current on changes is expected. The role also involves identifying customer financial needs and offering appropriate products and services and supporting branch referral goals by identifying and directing basic bank products to the appropriate business partner.
- Serve as the primary client contact and uphold the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards.
- Travel within a geographic area to cover branches that require staffing support; perform teller transactions with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Process deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balance the cash drawer.
- Maintain branch integrity through tasks such as ATM balance controls, night drop deposits, negotiable instrument balancing, processing returned mail, balancing the credit card machine, and updating lobby materials.
- Mitigate risk by safeguarding cash and ensuring prompt accounting or transfer of funds.
- Interact with clients to anticipate needs and offer proactive solutions within policy guidelines.
- Deepen knowledge of product and service offerings and stay informed on changes.
- Identify customer financial needs and refer appropriate products/services to the right business partner; support branch referral goals.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of banking or customer service experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to learn and comply with all bank policies, procedures, and systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in written numbers, words, and instructions.
- Ability and willingness to build relationships with clients and bank associates.
The pay range for this role is $20.00 to $22.50 per hour. The pay rate for the selected candidate depends on factors including knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, with details provided during recruitment. Primary location is onsite at the posted location(s).
