Under General Supervision, the Radiologic Tech I prepares patients for and performs radiologic examinations.

  • Follows Universal Protocol by using two patient identifiers prior to working with a patient. Uses the appropriate hand off communication techniques (SBAR) when bringing patients to and from the department.
  • Demonstrates ability to problem solve equipment failure, clerical error, and interdepartmental conflicts. Advance skilled Technologist able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibits working relationships that are characterized by mutual support, open communication, trust and respect. Supports co-workers when required by teaching/training new procedures, equipment usage and proper technique.
  • Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned.
  • Troubleshoots equipment before service is called. Reports equipment malfunction to the proper personnel, initiates service or notifies Bio-medical Engineering department.
  • Reports to supervisor any suggestions to increase productivity or quality of work.
  • Accepts personal accountability for maintaining a safe work environment. Speaks up when others are taking safety risks. Follows rules designed for personal protection and environmental safety, including safe use of equipment. Understands and can carry out their role in department and organizational emergency and disaster plans in a prompt and effective manner.
Department Specific Competencies
  • Monitors and reports to the Unit Lead any patient or family complaints, intervening before issues arise and implements service recovery strategies as needed.
  • Monitors and/or Resolves Issues:
    On RIS worklist for exams not completed or transcribed, on PACS for exams on exceptions list, on PACS primordial for QC Issues, reports all unresolved issues.
  • Orders routine supplies, as required, to maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Follows up on supplies that are back ordered, delivered in error etc Assists supervisor to control unit supply costs.
  • Follows Lean principles and creates SOPs for the Department as needed.
  • Assumes on-call status and call back as assigned, responding within 30 minutes of receiving call.
  • Performs duties of shift lead, if assigned. Includes assignment of work duties to achieve maximum efficiency, coordinates breaks to maintain adequate coverage at all times, and displays sound judgment in decision making regarding patient care, assignments, and scheduling changes.
  • Assumes role of Clinical instructor for radiologic technology students. Coordinates and oversees student files, department rotations and overall compliance. Mentors students and completes clinical evaluations.
Education

Additional Information

Graduate of Allied Health Education program in Radiology or accredited radiographic program or equivalent.

  • ARRT License for Radiologic Technologist
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
  • Fluoroscopy License
  • BCLS or ACLS Certification

Compensation Range

$40.11 - $63.12 / Hour
