Information Technology Manager – Public Safety
Position Overview: This leadership role manages day‑to‑day operations and staff within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division of the Torrance Police Department. The manager plans, develops, implements, and supports TPD technology systems, data center, cybersecurity, and network operations. Responsibilities include monitoring project status, ensuring performance metrics, coordinating projects with other city departments, managing service requests and staff workload in the ITSM system, and performing related duties as required.
SalaryInformation
$12,055 – $15,978 – $18,374 per month plus benefits. Appointments are typically made between the minimum and reference point depending on qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications- Complete six (6) months of actual service after permanent appointment as a Civil Service employee by the final filing period.
- Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience, and a minimum of seven (7) years of enterprise applications development and support in a government or business environment. At least three (3) years of supervisory and project management experience is required. - License or Certificates:
Valid California driver’s license is required. Certifications in enterprise applications development, GIS technologies, cybersecurity, database management, Microsoft Power Platform, or programming languages are highly desired.
The application filing period closes on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Candidates will be invited to an oral interview (scheduled for July 9, 2026) and a department interview (week of July 27, 2026). Successful candidates must pass all components of the exam process, including background investigation and drug screening.
