POSITION DESCRIPTION AND KEY MEASURES
Department – Legal
Location – Lovisa Support Office (Americas)
Report to – General Counsel
POSITION PURPOSE AND EXPECTATIONThe Legal Counsel will be responsible for legal advice and documentation for Lovisa Americas and other countries as required including:
- Drafting and negotiating legal agreements and precedents
- Maintenance of legal document registers and trackers (eg contracts registers, intellectual property registers, litigation trackers)
- Assisting with managing legal disputes and litigation
- Liaising with external lawyers on matters (where applicable)
- Keeping informed of legislative changes and legal matters which will affect Lovisa and ensure relevant team members are informed and processes and procedures are implemented to ensure compliance
- Providing day to day general legal advice as required
- Current legal practising certificate
- Approximately 3 – 6 years’ experience in an in‑house legal retail environment, preferable with employment and some litigation experience
- Clear oral and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Concise and accurate drafting skills
- Windows and other Microsoft office products – intermediate to advanced level

- Leases and other documentation are accurate, in accordance with nominated Lovisa parameters and executed within prescribed time frames.
- Reports, registers and systems are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
- Regular reporting to General Counsel and other department heads as required.
- Legal disputes are managed efficiently and cost‑effectively having regard to the nature of the dispute and legal risk.
- Legal developments in relevant jurisdictions are monitored and communicated to relevant parts of the business.
- Processes and procedures implemented to ensure legal compliance and minimise legal risk.
Other duties and special projects within skill and competency level as required.
