Job SummaryThe Senior Buyer is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day purchasing activities within assigned areas of our Manufacturing Department. The role purchases and manages materials logistics to support all stages of product development, working closely with engineers and manufacturing personnel. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring we meet production schedules and managing end‑to‑end materials procurement for internal developments. This is a hands‑on position;
it is not remote or hybrid.
- Manage RFQ and PO processes.
- Identify new suppliers and negotiate prices.
- Participate in S&OP process, including demand and material planning for assigned product portfolios/vendors.
- Analyze material inventory and maintain sufficient safety stock and inventory projection.
- Balance material demand/supply to minimize stockout risk by forecasting needs and scheduling supplier shipments.
- Create Purchase Orders in the ERP system and track inbound quantities and due dates.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships and manage quality service/product performance issues.
- Communicate material quality and delivery change requirements to suppliers within an MRP environment.
- Purchase materials and services, obtaining maximum value in terms of price, quality, and delivery.
- Be a self‑starter with a proactive, ownership mentality who can make consequential decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Associate’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
- Certification from an industry association (C.P.M.) is a plus.
- Experience in a high‑tech manufacturing/production environment is a plus.
- Understanding and hands‑on experience with manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems such as SAGE or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to commit and work under deadlines.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills; demonstrated proficiency working with large data sets.
- Ability to work in a challenging, engaging environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, accountability, and professional development.
Job Requirements
The employee will occasionally move throughout the facilities, including climbing stairs when necessary. Occasional bending and reaching in an office environment, including opening and closing file cabinets and drawers with light grasping. Type on a standard keyboard. Use standard computer display screens and standard push‑button phones. Sit or stand upright for a minimum of one hour, up to 12 hours a day.
Be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 yearly (based on experience and qualifications)
