SUMMARY

The Carrier Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing carrier compliance while supporting operational carrier management across the transportation network. This role focuses on onboarding, auditing, and managing third-party carriers to ensure regulatory compliance, optimize performance, and support efficient freight operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead end-to-end carrier onboarding, including documentation review, insurance verification, compliance checks, and system setup
  • Verify carrier authority, FMCSA/DOT compliance, licensing, and safety records
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date carrier data within TMS and compliance systems
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and internal safety and compliance standards
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners
  • Monitor performance metrics, including CSA scores, safety ratings, and service compliance
  • Address performance issues and collaborate with carriers on corrective actions
3. Contracting, Procurement & Cost Management
  • Support the development and execution of carrier agreements and service-level expectations
  • Assist with freight procurement activities to ensure capacity and cost efficiency
  • Partner with Legal and Finance to facilitate contract execution and compliance
4. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Conduct periodic compliance audits and stay informed on regulatory changes
  • Track and manage insurance requirements and expirations
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and compliance risks
5. Operations & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Operations, Warehouse, Customer Service, Finance, and Planning teams to ensure alignment
  • Ensure only qualified and compliant carriers are utilized within the network
6. Process Improvement & Strategy
  • Develop and implement carrier policies, best practices, and performance standards
  • Analyze carrier performance data and recommend process improvements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational strategy
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, carrier management, or compliance
  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and carrier requirements
  • Experience working with TMS and compliance management platforms
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage carrier relationships and performance
