Job Description & How to Apply Below

We exist to make the world a little less complicated — by bringing a human approach to everyone, everywhere. That belief runs through everything we move, and we’re looking for someone to carry it into our Los Angeles domestic operation. This isn’t a maintenance job. It’s a build. Read on.

The opportunity

This is a rare one, and we want to be straight about why. Most operations roles ask you to keep a well‑oiled machine running. This one asks you to build the machine. You’d be taking the reins of our LA domestic operation at a genuine turning point — shaping how it runs, and what “good” looks like here for years to come.

It’s the closest thing to running your own business inside the backing, scale, and global network of an established company.

Why this role matters

We’re an internationally focused logistics company, and deep domestic expertise is rare and valuable to us. This role keeps our Los Angeles domestic freight moving through high volume, tight timelines, and the constant surprises of logistics. When equipment fails, a shipment appears out of nowhere, or half the team is out on the busiest day of the month — this is the person who keeps it all moving, and keeps everyone steady while doing it.

You’d be the bridge between the people doing the work and senior leadership: close enough to the floor to fix what’s real, commercial enough to protect the business.

What you’ll do

Lead our domestic operations and the people who run them. You’ll anticipate the day before it happens, resolve issues as they surface, and keep freight flowing across the warehouse and domestic group. You’ll manage relationships with carriers and customers — the kind built over time, that come through for you when you’re in a pinch. You’ll handle the unplanned constantly, get ahead of problems before they reach the customer, and own both the service your team delivers and the numbers behind it.

Let’s

be honest about the environment

We’d rather tell you plainly than have you find out in week two. This is a fast, high-volume, people‑first role — not a desk job, and not a predictable one. Much of the day is solving problems in real time and moving resources to where they’re needed most. And right now, LA is a rebuild: you’d inherit an operation that needs organising.

The first months are about learning the people and the processes, earning trust, and then — once you’ve earned the right — making it better. The people who love this role are the ones who read all of that and feel energised rather than warned off. If that’s you, keep going.

What you’ll bring on day one
  • Real domestic logistics experience — carriers, truckers, airlines, vendors, commodities, and how a warehouse actually runs.
  • Financial literacy — you can read a P&L, understand margins, and make commercially sound calls.
  • Leadership and a cool head under pressure — the ability to triage, decide, and keep your team steady when several things go wrong at once.
What we’ll teach you

Our operating system, our Power BI reporting, our processes. If you bring the judgment and the logistics background, the tools are learnable — so don’t count yourself out over a system you haven’t used yet. We’d rather invest in the right person than hold out for a perfect résumé.

What makes someone thrive here

The people who do this best lead through relationships — with their team, their carriers, their customers — and build them before they need them. They delegate and hold people accountable instead of carrying everything alone. They get ahead of problems, and they keep their humour and their composure when the day comes apart. In short: good people who treat other people well, and get things done.

Who

we are

At Scan Global Logistics we talk about virtues rather than values — a virtue is the compass we choose to steer by, even on the days we don’t get it perfect. Ours shape this role as much as any of the above:

  • Respect — we treat every person as equal in worth, whoever they are and whatever they do.
  • Entrepreneurship — we combine perseverance with fresh thinking to get things done, and we learn from our mistakes. (This role is this virtue in action.)
  • Integrity — we close the distance between what we…
