Role DescriptionThe Customs Broker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Torrance, CA. The individual in this role will prepare, review, and file customs documentation for import and export shipments in compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include verifying tariff classifications, calculating duties and taxes, coordinating with carriers, freight forwarders, and government agencies, and resolving clearance issues.
The role involves maintaining accurate shipment records, monitoring online tracking systems, and updating clients on shipment status and compliance-related matters. The Customs Broker will work closely with internal operations, warehousing, and distribution teams to support efficient supply chain management and timely cargo movement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classification, and import/export compliance.
- Experience with freight forwarding, supply chain management, and logistics coordination.
- Strong skills in documentation review, data entry accuracy, and record-keeping for shipments.
- Proficiency in using online tracking systems and related trade management software.
- Effective communication and customer service skills for liaising with clients, carriers, and government agencies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
- Prior experience in customs brokerage, international trade, or logistics is highly beneficial.
- Relevant certification or licensure as a Customs Broker, or eligibility and willingness to obtain such credentials.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or related field preferred.
