Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Air Export is a vital operational role within the Operations department, responsible for supporting the Regional Leader, Air Export, in managing and optimizing the Air Export operations across a defined geographic area within the region. Reporting directly to the Regional Leader, this individual will assist in leading and supervising regional air export teams to ensure efficient, compliant, and profitable handling of outbound air freight shipments.

The Assistant Manager will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining adherence to SOPs, supporting the Regional Leader in achieving regional goals, and contributing to positive customer experiences.

• Regional Operational Support
  • Assist the Regional Leader in the implementation of operational strategies and initiatives across the assigned area within the region.
  • Support the oversight of daily air export activities within the designated area, ensuring efficient processing of shipments from booking to final delivery.
  • Monitor and report on air export performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) for the assigned area to the Regional Leader, highlighting trends and potential issues.
  • Ensure all air export activities within the assigned area comply with U.S. and international regulations (e.g., TSA, FAA, IATA), as well as Nissin's global standards and procedures, under the direction of the Regional Leader.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among air export teams within the assigned area.
• Team Leadership and Supervision (Area Level)
  • Assist the Regional Leader in supervising and guiding the regional air export teams.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the assigned area, promoting teamwork, efficiency, and high performance.
  • Assist in identifying training needs for air export staff within the assigned area and communicate these to the Regional Leader, including customer service skills.
  • Support the Regional Leader in ensuring effective communication within the teams.
• Area Operational Management
  • Manage the daily air export operations within the assigned area, ensuring adherence to established workflows and timelines.
  • Ensure consistent application of current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all air export activities within the assigned area.
  • Monitor and address any operational challenges or deviations from SOPs within the assigned area, escalating significant issues to the Regional Leader.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry and documentation across teams within the assigned area.
• Customer Service and Relationship Management (Area Level)
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex air export issues and customer inquiries within the assigned area, informing the Regional Leader as necessary.
  • Ensure air export teams within the assigned area provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Directly handle customer inquiries and resolve issues related to air export shipments within the assigned area, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolutions.
  • Communicate proactively with customers regarding shipment status updates and potential challenges.
  • Support the Regional Leader in maintaining relationships with key clients within the assigned area, understanding their specific air export needs and requirements.
• Financial Oversight (Area Support)
  • Assist the Regional Leader in monitoring and managing operational expenses within the assigned area.
  • Report on the financial performance of air export operations within the assigned area to the Regional Leader, identifying potential areas for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and timely collection of payments for air export services within the assigned area.
• Compliance and Risk Management (Area Level)
  • Ensure all air export operations within the assigned area adhere to relevant security regulations and procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with air export operations within the assigned area, escalating significant risks to the Regional Leader.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant U.S. and international regulations within the assigned area.
• Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with the Regional Leader and other team members to ensure alignment of regional and national strategies.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams within the assigned area to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in air export operations, with a solid understanding of the entire air freight process.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams within air export operations, with a focus on customer interaction.
• Good knowledge of U.S. and international air export regulations (e.g., TSA, FAA, IATA, Customs).
• Proven ability to lead and motivate teams.
