Description
Marukai Corporation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Department manager to lead operations in our Central Kitchen division.
Department Manager is the ambassador of production in the Kitchen, who lead the team to support the store promoting the merchandise a positive light, helping to increase the product awareness and sales in the store.
Depart Manager is the bridge between the department operations and Central Kitchen operations.
Department Manager is the role model who is the experts of merchandises knowledge, and trainer for the Associates, Assistant Team Leaders, Team Leaders, Assistant Section Managers, Section Managers, and Assistant Department Managers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Keep the store clean and neat is the essential responsibility for all Marukai employees.
- Based on company sale goal, set store sales objective with practical operations plans including store operation schedule, merchandises order plan, quality assurance plan, and team crew schedule, and other related item or content.
- Be responsible for Central Kitchen team hiring, termination, corrective action, new hire onboarding, training, and development.
- Conduct and lead key meetings with store teams such as weekly sales meetings, quarterly reviews, annual appraisals, and safety talk.
- Properly wear and use company provide Personal Protective Equipment such as uniform / vest, apron, mask, gloves, hat, hair net, and others.
- Based on the assignment, you might need to handle Deli, Meat, Seafood, Bakery, Sushi, and or other perishable products.
- Based on the assignment, you need handle different tools and equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife, wrapper, grinder, and or other necessary items.
- Work with Merchandise team and CK Manger and collaborate with store operation team about store floor change.
- Manage and design the best Operation method on the production lines for the CK items (or direct others to do so) in a way that is considerate of product lineup priority.
- Be responsible for department inventory level and deliveries, including order placement, receiving, returning, quality checking and invoice review.
- Work closely with Store Managers, design and present the work schedules for the team members.
- Make proper adjustments in the department products about discount promotion, package change, and display change to increase the sale performance and control the cost.
- Be responsible for the department report including product movement total, sales performance, inventory, labor cost and others.
- Trian and develop team members for the knowledge of merchandise and operations.
- Follow supervisor's instructions and company policy and procedures.
- Multitask calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Other assigned responsibilities.
- Minimum 2 years of team member experience on the related positions, and at least 1-year direct team management and product management experience. Production Factory experience will be plus.
- High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Extensive knowledge of Specialty products.

- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.

- Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
- Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
- California State Driver's License
- Possesses a food handling license.
- Possesses a forklift operating license.
- Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company paid training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position in which it is required.
- Merchandise team will provide the work skill training and instruction.
- You are expected to follow the instruction, skill sheet, and match with your supervisor's time request.
- Speak, Read and Write English fluently is must
- Japanese bilingual skill will be BIG plus
- Kitchen and restaurant (a confined, noise and temperature levels
- Indoor (Artificial variable Lighting; Air Conditioned; Might be Crowded)
- Outdoor (Store parking area, and/or travel between stores)
- Noise Level (Normally is moderate, can be noisy during busy time)
