Summary

The Production Machine Operator performs basic setup and operates automatic machines in accordance with established shop practices to produce parts according to blueprints, router packages, specifications, and special instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs basic sets up and operates up to three automatic machines.
  • Recognizes and detects machine out-of-tolerance and adjusts controls or control media as required.
  • Performs basic trial runs to check accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications using gauges, SPC, and shop floor system.
  • Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning and in‑process inspections; reports major discrepancies to lead or supervisor.
  • Determines and performs proper feed and speed combinations.
  • Provides necessary information to Manufacturing team, Engineering team, or others to document procedures and drawings.
  • Performs work operations under supervision.
  • Checks tooling and reworks as needed to keep machine running.
  • Layouts parts for successive and continuous machining operations.
  • Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards, following blueprints or work instructions.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows all safety regulations.
  • Complies with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE procedures.
  • Attends all training provided and adheres to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Brings any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
  • Works under recommended waste elimination initiatives related to manufacturing production, including recycling opportunities to reduce or minimize production waste.
  • Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Working experience of manufacturing environment procedures.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years experience and/or training within an aerospace fastener manufacturing and/or industrial shop; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to team members.
