Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Processing Tech III in our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines.

General

Summary:

Responsible for set‑up, operation, and maintenance of miscellaneous plating machines, processing of parts, meeting print, and specification requirements.

• Process parts to meet Government, Manufacturing and Environmental Specifications
• Clean parts free of oil and grease per departmental specifications
• Ensure parts are clean prior to chemical immersion
• Sort parts to separate media, defected parts, FOD and uniformity
• Paint, Dip, Hand blast and Tumble parts.
• Strip all coatings from OD/ parts
• Olive drab chromate with color or clear after CAD Plate
• Machines required to use;
  Hand Blast, Auto Blast, Tumble DeBurr, Jenfab, Hoist, and Spin Dryer, lube booth equipment

• Makes voltage and amperage adjustments to proper current density of plating baths.
• Maintains pH level and proper chemical concentrations of all plating baths.
• Performs hydrogen relief treatments after plating and chemical cleaning operations as required by applicable specifications.
• Inspects a representative sample of each plating load to ensure proper coverage and adhesion.
• Purges plating solutions periodically by carbon treating and dummy plating and maintains plating solution cleanliness.
• Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.
• Train other operators as required
• Maintains a clean and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S standards
• Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.

Basic Qualifications:

3+ years of aerospace plating experience or relevant industry

The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $20.50-$26.
