Assists Manufacturing Supervisor and Lead in reviewing DHR for completed product. Assembles, fabricates, tests/repair and/or packages components, subassemblies and complete units in accordance with established guidelines and specifications. Assures that related work activities of assemblers are in conformance with such specifications and established guidelines. Performs coating, mixing and cooking of raw materials to create finished products.

Assembly Activities
  • Under general supervision, performs various tasks requiring knowledge of assembly techniques, tools, materials, machines and equipment.
  • Assembles electromechanical instruments or fabricated parts to make subassemblies or complete instruments using hand tools, power tools and special tools and/or calibration equipment.
  • Determines methods and sequence of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available or follows assembly shop and production operations sheets, wire lists, samples, blue prints, schematics and verbal instructions to perform a wide variety of assembly operations.
  • Fits, aligns, calibrates, adjust, repair and test parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating and quality requirements.
  • Works from engineering drawings, rough sketches, manual, verbal or written instructions from engineer or Supervisor.
  • Repairs units which have failed to meet product operating and quality requirements.
  • Performs in-process and final quality inspection of assembled products.
  • May train and monitor the work of subordinates or co-workers as necessary to enhance skill level and knowledge base.
  • Evaluates assembly procedures and manuals and recommends revisions when required.
  • Performs such tasks as replacing components and wiring circuits.
  • Examines drawings and work orders to determine the work that needs to be performed.
  • Maintains a record of the assembly process, progress and problems.
  • Provides feedback to supervisor when a deviation from accepted practice or safety issues are recognized.
  • Repairs and aligns mechanical and simple electronic equipment (board level).
  • Takes test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • Must be able to read electronic schematic diagrams for circuit tracing and troubleshooting.
  • Capable of receiving technical guidance as required from supervisor or engineers.
  • Cleans and coats molds for fixtures and products used.
  • Performs mixing and cooking of gels in a laboratory environment.
Quality Business System Activities
  • Actively seeks opportunities to continually improve processes that affect the quality of products and services delivered to customers.
  • Provides status on action items when required and ensures resolution of quality issues.
  • Assists in the control of processes and/or procedures to ensure the highest possible levels of quality.
Other Activities
  • Trains new team members on how to fill out DHRs such as batch record and traveler during the production run.
  • Troubleshoots assembly problems to minimize production delay.
  • Recommends and implements methods to promote teamwork and maintains a pleasant work environment within department and with other departments.
  • Required to lead the team when Production Lead or Supervisor is not available.
  • Documents activities for management review.
  • Performs data entry on work-in-process transaction and parts ordering.
  • Filling products records and documents.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes in methods and procedures in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Seeks constant improvement in work processes and techniques.
  • Assures that assembly areas are in an orderly and functional condition.
  • Suggests improvement in departmental work processes and procedures.
  • Maintains good communications both inside and outside of the Company.
  • Attends and participates in group meetings, task force groups, etc., as needed.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineer and Scientist to develop and maintain time standards.
  • Aids Manufacturing Engineer with design of assemblies and units for manufacturing capability.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by Company Management.
Education

High school diploma, GED or equivalent education and experience.
