About the Role
Simplehuman is seeking an Industrial Design / Model Maker Intern to join our Product Development team. This role consists of building models and prototypes throughout the product development cycle. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of product managers, engineers, and designers that develop our innovative, modern products. This is a full-time or part-time, on-site position located in our Torrance, CA office.
Responsibilities- Create prototypes and components from 3D model files supplied by the design and engineering teams.
- Use 3D printers, laser cutters, and other shop equipment to create medium- to high-fidelity prototypes.
- Maintain tools, shop cleanliness, and 3D printers.
- Edit and optimize 3D model files for 3D printing.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working with model-making materials and equipment such as foam core, wood, metal, acrylic, power tools, and hand tools.
- Experience with 3D printers required.
- Proficiency in shop processes and safety procedures for tool use.
- Proficiency in Solid Works or Creo.
- Builder/tinkerer with assembly and hands-on fabrication skills. Do you build furniture, FPV drones, bicycles, or cars? We would love to hear about it.
