Avionics Manufacturing Supervisor
Castelion is looking for an Avionics Manufacturing Supervisor, reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer of Avionics, to support the development and production of systems required for long-range hypersonic strike vehicles. This will be a full-time position located at our Torrance, California facility.
As an Avionics Manufacturing Supervisor, you will lead and develop a team of Avionics Manufacturing Technicians while owning daily production execution across PCBA rework, wire harness manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, integration, and test.
This role requires a strong technical and process-focused mindset combined with the people leadership and production ownership expected of a supervisor. You will organize and assign work, monitor execution, develop technicians, resolve production issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and maintain a strong hands-on presence on the production floor.
This is not a purely administrative leadership position. The ideal candidate is excited to build and grow a high-performing team while remaining directly involved with hardware and complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and provide daily direction to a team of Avionics Manufacturing Technicians
- Establish a scalable technician leadership structure and develop future technical leads
- Organize, prioritize, and assign work orders based on production needs, technician capabilities, hardware availability, and schedule requirements
- Monitor daily production execution, balance workloads, remove blockers, and ensure technicians are working safely and efficiently
- Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and provide hands-on support for complex builds, troubleshooting, PCBA rework, wire harnesses, integration, and test
- Identify and raise concerns involving hardware, drawings, work instructions, tooling, materials, quality, manufacturability, or schedule
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues
- Coach technicians, identify training needs, and expand team capabilities across avionics manufacturing processes
- Drive improvements in productivity, first-pass yield, repeatability, workmanship, and production flow
- Support the development and improvement of manufacturing tooling, fixtures, work instructions, test equipment, and processes
- Ensure work orders, inspection records, test results, nonconformance documentation, and manufacturing records are completed accurately and on time
- Support the transition of avionics hardware from development builds into repeatable production
- Experience leading technicians, assigning work, and supporting daily production execution
- Hands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, or repairing avionics or electrical hardware
- Experience with PCBA rework, wire harness manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, or electrical test
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or similar workmanship standards
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
- Strong communication, organization, and technical problem-solving skill
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of avionics, electronics, electrical manufacturing, or related production experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience supervising technicians in aerospace, defense, electronics, automotive, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment
- Experience building, testing, or repairing flight hardware
- Experience managing work orders, labor assignments, production schedules, and daily output
- Advanced PCBA rework, wire harness manufacturing, or electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience improving tooling, work instructions, test equipment, manufacturing processes, or production metrics
- Experience using manufacturing execution, product lifecycle management, or documentation systems
- Familiarity with GD&T, mechanical drawings, and electronic principles
- Experience supporting both development and production hardware
