Electrical Harness Technician
Andrenam is looking for a Harness Technician to join our hardware team. You'll be hands-on building the physical systems that enable real-time sensing and communication across autonomous maritime platforms. This is a critical role on a team where every wire, connector, and harness assembly directly contributes to national defense and naval operations. We're looking for someone who takes pride in precise, reliable workmanship and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment where quality isn't negotiable.
InThis Role
- You will fabricate, assemble, and test wire harnesses and cable assemblies for defense-grade maritime hardware systems.
- You will work from engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings to build systems that perform in demanding environments.
- You will collaborate closely with electrical engineers to refine harness designs from prototype through production.
- You will uphold and help define workmanship standards for harness fabrication across the organization.
- Fabricate wire harnesses and cable assemblies from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and verbal instructions.
- Perform crimping, soldering, splicing, and connector termination on a variety of wire gauges and connector types.
- Install and route harnesses and cable assemblies in hardware enclosures and system builds.
- Conduct continuity, hi-pot, and functional electrical testing on completed assemblies.
- Identify and communicate design or workmanship issues to engineering and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain organized work areas and accurate documentation for all assemblies built.
- Support prototype builds and production ramp, adapting quickly as designs evolve.
- 2+ years of experience fabricating wire harnesses or cable assemblies in an aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics environment.
- Proficiency with crimping tools, soldering irons, and associated hand tools; ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Familiarity with a variety of connector types across industries (e.g., automotive, industrial, consumer electronics); comfort adapting to new connector systems as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing defect-free assemblies.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills; ability to surface issues, ask the right questions, and keep engineering informed of assembly challenges in real time.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple builds simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 or J-STD-001 certification or training.
- Experience building to MIL-SPEC or other defense/aerospace standards.
- Familiarity with waterproof or ruggedized connector systems (e.g., Deutsch, Amphenol, Souriau).
- Exposure to underwater, maritime, or submersible system builds.
- Experience supporting engineering teams during early-stage prototype development.
