Job Summary

This position oversees the packaging process, including operation of vertical bagging and horizontal wrapping machines, palletizing, labeling, and case packing. The Packing Lead trains employees, maintains safety and quality procedures, adjusts machines for optimal settings, minimizes downtime, and records daily packaging volumes while reporting issues to Supervisors and Managers.

Essential Job Functions
  • Troubleshoot equipment to achieve specified rates with minimal downtime and scrap.
  • Perform set‑ups, including preparation for subsequent jobs.
  • Lead and motivate a fast‑paced packaging team.
  • Direct packaging staff and provide clear instructions.
  • Assist in directing and training employees assigned to a specific area.
  • Ensure the packing area is clean and organized.
  • Packs products accurately and on schedule.
  • Follow company pack specifications and customer deviations communicated through quality control paperwork.
  • Allocate products to appropriate pack lines and reduce processing costs.
  • Maintain a safe environment by implementing safety protocols and ensuring machinery is safe for use.
  • Confirm that QC processes are correctly implemented and quality is maintained throughout packaging.
  • Set up and calibrate machines, control and adjust settings (e.g., speed).
  • Complete all required documentation and reports.
  • Operate machinery, equipment, and tools safely and proficiently according to standards and guidelines.
  • Read and understand Shine Foods’ product specifications and recognize deviations.
  • Perform clean‑up activities as assigned.
  • May be assigned other duties by plant management as required.
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Immediately report and help eliminate or control any food safety issues observed.
  • Monitor and enforce cGMPs.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and prerequisite programs.
Language Requirement
  • Ability to understand written and oral directions in English and/or Spanish.
Physical Requirement
  • Occasionally carry or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Routinely stand, stoop, bend, climb, and fill raw material into machines.
  • Work in loud environments.
  • Walk through production areas.
  • Be exposed to temperature changes.
  • Have adequate vision (close, distance, peripheral, depth).
  • Wear proper footwear.
Schedule
  • 2nd shift (4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.)
  • Occasionally available to work on weekends.
