Aerospace Machine Setup Technician

An established and growing aerospace manufacturer in the Carson, CA area is seeking an experienced Machine Setup Technician to support its manufacturing operations.
This position is ideal for a hands-on, mechanically inclined professional responsible for setting up and preparing manufacturing equipment for production. The Machine Setup Technician will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure equipment is properly configured, calibrated, and ready to produce precision aerospace components according to production and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with manufacturing machinery and equipment, be comfortable following technical drawings and work instructions, and have strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
Responsibilities- Set up and prepare manufacturing machines and equipment for production
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, work holding, and other machine components
- Configure machines according to production requirements, work instructions, and engineering specifications
- Verify machine settings and equipment readiness before production begins
- Make necessary adjustments to equipment, tooling, and machine settings
- Perform equipment changeovers and setups for different production runs
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical, operational, and setup issues
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams to resolve equipment and setup issues
- Perform first-piece and in-process checks as required
- Use precision measuring tools and equipment to verify part dimensions and setup accuracy
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and specifications
- Maintain accurate setup documentation and production records
- Follow established quality, safety, and production procedures
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to machine setup, equipment efficiency, and production processes
- Support other manufacturing activities as needed
- 5+ years of machine setup, equipment setup, or manufacturing experience
- Hands-on mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions
- Experience setting up and adjusting manufacturing equipment
- Ability to use basic precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic equipment and setup issues
- Comfortable working in a precision manufacturing environment
- Ability to work effectively with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams
- Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing
- Experience working with precision manufacturing equipment
- Experience with CNC machines or other automated manufacturing equipment
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Experience working with tight-tolerance components
- Experience with machine tooling, fixtures, and work holding
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality requirements
- Experience working from CAD drawings or manufacturing specifications
- Previous experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or other high-precision manufacturing environments
