Salary: $25.00-$35.00/hr DOE
We currently have an opportunity for a detail-oriented Thruster Propulsion Assembler TECHNICIAN A (LG – 18) to build space-qualified ion thrusters for satellites and other spacecraft at our Torrance, California location. In this full-time hourly position, you will be involved in all aspects of electric thruster manufacturing, to include gas tungsten arc welding, laser welding, spot welding, and hydro-forming and grid alignment.
You ll also perform high-voltage and resistance measurements using hi-potters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters. Much of this work takes place in a clean-room environment.
You should have previous experience in the manufacture of precision electronic products, with knowledge in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and voltmeters. Previous experience building electric thrusters preferred.
Qualifications- The ability to work from written instructions, specification documents, blueprints, assembly instructions, and schematics is needed.
- You should be able to work cooperatively in a team environment and available for overtime if required by workload or schedule.
- If not already skilled in welding, you must be able to learn how to weld and become welding certified.
- Basic computer skills are needed in order to input product data into appropriate records.
- You must be able to lift 60 pounds no higher than shoulder height,
- Pass a NASA eye exam and be able to identify color codes.
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time; and
- A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
