Position: NURSE EDUCATOR

The Nursing Educator (RN) assists the Chief Nursing Officer in evaluating, reviewing, designing, and implementing hospital training events for all RN, LVN, and MHT staff required training. The educator also provides patient nursing assessments on an as-needed basis and participates in treatment team meetings as required.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program; RN/BSN preferred.

Credentials: Licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing required.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years direct clinical experience preferred in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in staff education, nursing practices, patient assessments, education concepts, practices and procedures.

Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of external review organizations.
  • Knowledge of patient rights, advanced directives, adult and child abuse laws, and emergency detention.
  • Knowledge and utilization of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment, family motivation and treatment planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of complex patient care planning.
  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Skill in interacting with multiple individuals with diversified roles and perspectives.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.
