Registered Nurse (RN) – Full Time

Responsibilities- Organize and direct patient care, setting priorities and assigning tasks to the most skilled staff for acutely ill patients.
- Ensure staff complete assigned duties and patient care responsibilities during each shift.
- Provide thorough unit orientation to new staff.
- Act as Charge Nurse when assigned.
- Assess each patient, complete a plan of care, and formulate a nursing diagnosis based upon assessment findings.
- Document patient behavior, condition, and care accurately, timely and legibly on all assigned patients, including RN progress notes and pertinent graphics each shift.
- Provide shift reports using concise, meaningful language that includes patient name, diagnosis, physician, precautions, levels of supervision, legal status and discharge status where known.
- Follow safety procedures and use appropriate observation levels (e.g., 15‑minute checks, 1:1 monitoring, specific precautions).
- Provide nursing care within scope of practice to meet each patient’s unique needs.
- Encourage patient participation in milieu activities.
- Anticipate emergent situations; intervene early and appropriately.
- Manage complex patient care situations utilizing department policies and procedures, prioritizing interventions in rapidly changing circumstances.

Education: Graduate of accredited nursing school required.
Credentials: Licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing required.
Experience: Clinical experience in a psychiatric setting preferred; 1‑3 years with military and behavioral health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
Knowledge/Skills- Ability to interact positively with patients daily.
- Leadership ability and appropriate supervision/oversight of staff.
- Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
- Ability to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles.
- Ability to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion.
- Adaptability to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
- Math skills to calculate drug dosages and infusion rates.
