About the PositionTravel Nurse Source is working with Magnet Medical to find a qualified OR RN in Torrance, California, 90503!
As an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN), you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Preoperative Preparation: assess patients' medical histories, verify consent, review medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery.
- Intraoperative Nursing Care: assist in preparing the operating room environment, ensure sterile conditions and proper functioning of equipment, collaborate with the team to position patients, monitor vitals, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance.
- Surgical Assistance and Instrumentation: anticipate surgeons' needs, pass instruments, sutures, and supplies, and maintain sterile technique throughout the procedure.
- Patient Advocacy and Safety: advocate for patient safety and comfort, address concerns, ensure adherence to protocols, monitor responses, and intervene promptly for complications.
- Postoperative Care and Monitoring: transfer patients to PACUs, monitor vital signs and status, assess incisions, apply dressings, manage drainage, and ensure pain management.
- Documentation and Communication: maintain accurate documentation of intraoperative events, medications, and patient responses; communicate effectively with the team.
- Continuing Education and Professional Development: stay current with surgical techniques and nursing practices, and participate in quality improvement initiatives and team debriefings.
