Registered Nurse (RN) – Part Time

• Organize and direct care of patients, including priority assignments to skilled staff for most acutely ill patients.
• Ensure staff complete assigned duties and patient care responsibilities during the shift.
• Provide thorough unit orientation to new staff.
• Act as Charge Nurse when assigned.
• Assess each patient, develop plan of care, formulate nursing diagnosis based on assessment.
• Document patient behavior, condition, and care accurately, timely, and legibly on all assigned patients, including RN progress notes and graphics each shift.
• Provide shift report in concise, meaningful language with all pertinent information.
• Follow safety procedures and observe appropriate monitoring level for patient.
• Provide nursing care within scope of practice to meet unique patient needs.
• Encourage patient participation in milieu activities.
• Anticipate emergent situations; intervene early and appropriately.
• Manage complex patient care situations utilizing departmental policies and procedures, prioritizing interventions in rapidly changing patient situations.

• Graduate of accredited nursing school.
• Licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
• Preferred: 1–3 years clinical experience in a psychiatric setting, preferably inpatient, including experience with military and behavioral health populations.
• Ability to interact positively with patients daily.
• Leadership ability and supervise/oversight of staff.
• Work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
• Make sound independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles.
• Comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members appropriately.
• Adapt to varying workloads and assignments.
• Math skills to calculate drug dosages and infusion rates.
