Job Title:

Supplier Quality Engineer

Reporting To:
Supplier Quality & Development Manager, Management, Procurement

Work Schedule:

Hybrid – Torrance, CA (9/80 schedule)

Responsibilities
  • Conduct supplier assessments and audits to evaluate quality systems and capabilities.
  • Manage and resolve non-conformances, including corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support the development and implementation of supplier improvement plans.
  • Review and approve supplier documentation such as PPAP submissions, control plans, and FMEAs.
  • Monitor supplier performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis of quality issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and work closely with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to ensure smooth product transitions.
  • Represent Moog in supplier meetings and negotiations.
  • Continuously improve supplier quality performance through data analysis and process optimization.
  • Participate actively in the Moog Zero Defect journey using AS9145 concepts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or a related Quality Assurance role within aerospace or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard quality tools and methodologies (8D, 5‑Why, FMEA, control plans, PPAP, MSA, SPC, APQP, AS9100).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, inspection methods, and root‑cause analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience with core defect prevention tools (DFMA, PFMEA, control plan, MSA, capability analysis, error proofing).
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards and regulations (AS13000 series, AS9102, AS9103, AS9145).
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (APQP and PPAP).
