Laboratory Technician - Gas & Hydrocarbon Testing

Looking for a hands-on lab role? Join a testing laboratory supporting the petroleum and energy industry. You'll perform sample testing, operate analytical equipment such as Gas Chromatography (GC), follow standardized test methods, and support quality testing in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Ideal for candidates with a Chemistry, Biology, or related science degree and laboratory experience.

Provide laboratory support for gas and hydrocarbon liquid testing while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and log samples into the LIMS system.
• Perform analytical testing using:
• Gas Chromatography (GC)
• RVP
• Molecular Weight
• Density
• Distillation
• Follow ASTM, GPA, and other standardized testing methods.
• Report test results to customers and communicate via phone/email as needed.
• Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
• Assist with cylinder cleaning, preparation, shipping, and general lab housekeeping.
• Follow all laboratory safety, quality, environmental, and ethics procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience.
• Experience working with GC (Gas Chromatography) preferred.
• Experience following SOPs and standardized test methods.
• Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Torrance, CA. The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
