Pelican is looking for a Senior Web Developer to help build and evolve the digital experiences behind our global ecommerce business. In this role, you’ll develop high-performing web applications, enhance our Shopify Plus ecosystem, integrate platforms and technologies, and partner with Ecommerce, Marketing, Product, and UX/UI to bring new digital experiences to life.
We’re looking for a developer who loves solving complex problems, cares about clean and scalable code, and is excited about using AI-assisted development tools to work smarter and push modern development practices forward.
- Build, enhance, and optimize Pelican’s ecommerce websites and digital applications using modern web technologies
- Develop new features and functionality within Shopify Plus, supporting product launches, promotions, merchandising, and conversion initiatives
- Create landing pages and digital experiences that bring marketing campaigns and new products to life
- Partner with Ecommerce, Marketing, Product, and UX/UI teams to turn business ideas into intuitive, high-performing customer experiences
- Develop and maintain integrations with third-party platforms and services using REST/SOAP APIs
- Own code quality and contribute to development standards focused on performance, security, scalability, and maintainability
- Leverage Git Hub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI-assisted development tools to improve development speed, code quality, and engineering workflows
- Optimize site architecture, navigation, search, SEO/SEM, analytics tagging, and overall website performance
- Support Google Tag Manager and digital analytics implementations that improve visibility into customer behavior and site performance
- Troubleshoot complex application issues, resolve defects, and continuously improve Pelican’s public-facing and internal web platforms
- Explore new technologies, development practices, and automation opportunities that strengthen our digital capabilities
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- 5 years of progressive web development experience, ideally supporting ecommerce or consumer-facing digital platforms
- Strong experience with PHP, Laravel, MySQL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and React.js or Vue.js
- Hands‑on experience developing within Shopify Plus
- Experience building and maintaining REST/SOAP API integrations
- Familiarity with AWS, Git Hub, Google Tag Manager, Agile/Scrum, and modern development workflows
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Git Hub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar technologies
- Strong understanding of SDLC, source control, application security, coding standards, and performance optimization
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and develop practical, scalable solutions
- Strong collaboration skills and experience partnering with UX/UI, Ecommerce, Marketing, and Product teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
