O&G Industries, Inc. is an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT, recruiting an Accountant to join our team.

We seek an Accountant with a thorough understanding of accounting functions, including purchase and sales cycle accrual accounting, AR, AP, inventory, and cost of goods sold. The candidate should also possess knowledge of accounting principles, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Familiarity with tax regulations and proficiency in accounting software such as Great Plains, Quick Books, JDE, and Sage will be essential.

This is an in‑person position.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare year‑end work papers to support the financial statement audit and tax return process.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and categorized.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, inter‑company accounts, inventory accounts and other accounts.
  • Maintain fixed assets.
  • Prepare and file State & Federal Fuel Return Filings, Sales Tax, and Highway Use tax reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of income and expense reports and personal property declarations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Conduct month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
  • Assist with tax preparation and filing.
  • Maintain and update financial records in accounting software (Great Plains/Quick Books/JDE/Sage).
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus relevant work experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in general accounting.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP).
  • Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail.
