BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) –
Part-Time Assistant Teacher –
Located at Torrington Middle School, Torrington, CT
EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program in Torrington. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with middle school-aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during after‑school hours (2:30 pm‑5:45 pm). Torrington High School and Middle School staff are encouraged to apply. The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and the BASES Administrative Team.
MajorResponsibilities
- Assist the Site Coordinator in the operation of the after‑school program daily
- Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
- Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
- Set up and clean up of program site
- First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework in ECE/ELED or related field preferred
- Experience working with Middle School-aged children
- Knowledge of child development
- Awareness of age‑appropriate curriculum activities
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Priority given to current District School Employees
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
