Registered Behavior Technician

The Behavior Technician implements positive programming to increase students behavioral and academic skills at Torringford Elementary School (grades PK-3). Qualifications include an advanced degree from an accredited college or passing the Para Pathways exam. Knowledge of district and behavior services policies and procedures is required, along with understanding of group and individual behavior management systems and character education programs. PMT training, crisis prevention, and verbal intervention/de-escalation techniques are necessary.

Documentation of interventions using state/district forms is preferred. Certifications include obtaining the Registered Behavior Technician Credential within 100 days of employment.

Terms of employment are for 10 months, 186 work days. Starting pay is $21.00 per hour with comprehensive medical benefits and tuition reimbursement. For individuals with the current Registered Behavior Technician Credential, starting pay is $25.00 per hour.

Internal applicants, regular employees of the Torrington Public Schools who are current members of the Paraeducators' union, must complete or re-open an existing online application and submit it from August 24, 2026 through August 28, 2026 (before midnight). This generates a "date stamp" used to determine the timeliness of your application.
