SUMMARY:
RBC Bearings, through its Aircraft Products, Inc. (API) division, is seeking an experienced Applications Engineering Team Leader to support a growing and well-established business in Torrington, CT. This role combines deep technical expertise in bearing applications with leadership responsibility, guiding a team while directly supporting customers and high-performance aerospace systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with extensive experience in rolling element bearing design and application, capable of contributing immediately in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead and mentor a team of applications engineers, supporting their technical development and career growth
* Design, analyze, and apply rolling element bearings for high-performance aerospace and industrial systems
* Utilize advanced engineering methods for bearing life prediction, lubrication, tribology, thermal performance, and failure analysis
* Provide direct technical support to customers, including product selection, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
* Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and sales teams to meet customer requirements
* Interpret complex engineering data and translate findings into actionable recommendations
* Serve as a technical expert and key point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external customers
* Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering tools, processes, and product offerings
QUALIFICATIONS &
EDUCATION:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, Legal Studies, or related Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
* Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in rolling element bearing design and application
* Proven ability to independently design and analyze bearings for demanding applications
* Strong expertise in bearing analysis tools, life prediction, lubrication, tribology, thermal behavior, and failure analysis
* Prior leadership or team management experience required
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment
