Job Summary The Outpatient Community Registered Dietitian performs a variety of specialized duties related to the nutrition counseling of patients/families for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Intensive Behavioral Therapy (IBT) diet education in the individual and group setting. Including weight management, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, malnutrition/weight gain, oncology patients, gastrointestinal disorders, childhood weight management, and sports nutrition or healthy diet. Ensure patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources.

Job Responsibilities Provides outpatient nutrition counseling and group classes to various patient populations including medical nutrition therapy and intensive behavioral therapy. Provides nutrition education and outreach to the local community. Participates in hospital community nutrition and health education program. Develops nutrition education materials for community programs. Incorporate current evidence-based research into practice, utilizing the Nutrition Care Process by assessing the nutritional status of patients and determines individualized nutrition care plan and documenting in electronic medical record.

Communicates effectively with patients, families, health care team members and departmental staff to help meet patient needs and support their nutrition goals. Participates in patient satisfaction programs and activities. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition/Dietetics required Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of professional experience in clinical or outpatient nutrition counseling services. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration;
Required Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CT Department of Public Health)
