About the Role:The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of outgoing shipments within a warehouse or distribution center. This position is responsible for coordinating the preparation, packaging, and dispatch of orders to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules. The Shipping Clerk must maintain meticulous records of all shipments, verify the accuracy of orders, and ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
By effectively managing shipping documentation and utilizing warehouse equipment, the Shipping Clerk helps to minimize errors and delays, contributing to overall customer satisfaction. This role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to support smooth logistics operations and maintain inventory accuracy.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a warehouse or shipping/receiving environment.
- Familiarity with operating powered industrial vehicles
- Basic computer skills to handle shipping documentation and inventory systems.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and follow safety protocols.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and carrier requirements.
- Experience with order filling and order picking processes.
- Forklift certification or additional warehouse equipment operation training.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and carriers.
- Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of outgoing shipment.
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures and rates.
- Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
