Commercial Sewing is seeking a Technical Design Assistant to support the development and production of innovative marine and powersports products. In this role, you'll help transform design concepts into production‑ready products by managing technical data, supporting pattern development, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Whether your background is in textiles, fashion design, technical design, pattern making, or product development, this is a great opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment where your work has a direct impact on the final product.
What You’ll Do- Maintain and update product specifications within the Vantage system.
- Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensure documentation remains accurate and current.
- Create, modify, and maintain mini patterns using the Gerber pattern design system.
- Support product development projects from design through production.
- Collaborate with engineering, pattern making, and production teams to resolve design questions and improve product quality.
- Assist with technical documentation, product records, and process updates.
- Conduct time studies and collect production data to support process improvements.
- Help coordinate research, testing, and development activities.
- Ensure design and production information is accurate, organized, and accessible.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn technical software systems.
- Good mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Basic blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of pattern making principles and sewing terminology.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience with Gerber, CAD, or other pattern design software.
- Background in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Apparel Construction, or Pattern making.
- Experience in a manufacturing or sewn‑products environment.
- Understanding of fabrics, materials, and product construction techniques.
