Position: Registered Nurse RN Physician Practice FT

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the employee and by staff under their direction. It utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Functions
  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history, family input, diagnostics and laboratory data, and reports abnormal results to physician(s) and appropriate caregivers.
  • Forms a plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on assessment data and patient, family and health team input; initiates a patient‑specific plan, sets realistic, measurable goals with the patient/family, and considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific and educational needs.
  • Plays plan of care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members; reviews and revises the plan to reflect changing patient needs.
  • Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team; provides care per physician orders and the nursing plan of care, while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegates appropriately, supervising other licensed nurses and personnel; promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
  • Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises the plan of care as needed; evaluates patient progress toward goals and outcomes; and assesses effectiveness of patient teaching.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; ensures documentation is legible, timely, and follows policy and reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient response.
  • Provides care based on best evidence, may participate in research activities, and engages in unit or facility shared leadership.
  • Participates in the education, role development, orientation and mentoring of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors; supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring.
  • Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes; actively participates in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; and may engage in professional organizations.
  • Interacts with all staff levels, physicians, patients, families and external contacts; clarifies and reports information; works with clergy to provide spiritual support; and synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim RN license/compact RN licensure).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Required:

    one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months, or one year of experience as an RN in a physician practice or acute care setting (for registry or travel positions).
  • Home Health: ability to operate a personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, active auto insurance.
  • Behavioral Health: required Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Criminal History Affidavit at hire and maintenance for all applicable positions;
    Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card for Banner Staffing Behavioral Health roles in Arizona.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
