Armed Patrol Security Officer

Garda World Security Services is hiring a Tactical Security Officer in Torrington, CT.

This role requires the ability to read environments, anticipate risk, and respond promptly to emergencies. The officer will patrol retail, airport, and detention centre environments throughout the shift.

• Friday and Saturday – 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
• Sunday through Wednesday – 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Thursday through Saturday – 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM

• Respond swiftly and professionally to emergencies, disturbances, threats, and potential criminal activity.
• Monitor access points and perform security checks on vehicles and personnel.
• Maintain a clean motor‑vehicle record; operate a company vehicle as required.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and other security personnel to address incidents.
• Enforce company regulations, policies, and procedures while interacting with the public courteously.
• Provide detailed written reports documenting all incidents and observations accurately.

• Authorized to work in the U.S. and 21 years of age or older.
• High‑school diploma or GED; state security license (CT Blue Card) with valid armed endorsement.
• 5‑year minimum prior law‑enforcement experience or equivalent military experience.
• Minimum 6 months of armed experience (military and/or law enforcement).
• Pass LEAI Assessment (62% or higher) and government‑required live‑fire testing with state‑specific minimum scores.
• Complete a standard NRA course of fire (80% proficiency).
• Pass GWSS employee physical and modified agility exam (lifting, moving, flexibility).
• Pass Human Performance Evaluation (HPE).
• Maintain all required immunizations.
• Provide a personally owned 9 mm handgun and three 10‑round magazines for duty use.
• Complete certification to carry an approved less‑lethal alternative (OC spray).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Clean motor‑vehicle record; ability to drive security vehicle.
• Ability to respond to high‑pressure situations with professionalism and calmness.
• First‑aid certification is an asset.
• Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
