Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Education. Special Education endorsement preferred. Ability to obtain Wyoming Teaching Certification. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining intermediate certification in the Mandt System â of nonphysical and physical intervention with aggressive youth.

Resident and staff privacy and confidentiality is protected at all times. Minimum necessary access to resident and staff records and information is assigned based on the job duties and responsibilities outlined below.
Key Areas of Responsibility Certifications- Acquire and maintain Wyoming Substitute Teaching certification by completing the required number of PTSB credit hours.
- Successfully complete intermediate Mandt Training and be annually re‑certified.
- Successfully complete initial Medication Training and be annually re‑certified.
- Attend all required meetings and complete satisfactorily all training as scheduled to meet standards for on‑going education annually.
- Supervise students during class and outside classroom when appropriate.
- Using the Psycho‑Educational Model, build a positive, caring, professional relationship with the residents.
- Ensure that all residents are treated with dignity and respect, are treated age appropriately, and their rights are not violated.
- Monitor courses of study based upon individual resident’s ability and educational goals established in treatment plans.
- Maintain and monitor academic and behavioral progress of students in each class period.
- Provide appropriate and effective lesson plans for substitute teachers.
- Provide direct instruction for assigned classes or segments of classes as needed.
- Inventory all teaching materials and equipment and monitor upkeep.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date gradebook on a weekly basis.
- Demonstrate willingness to work with and understand the cultural differences within the resident and staff populations.
- Model professional behavior, appropriate dress, respect, honesty, and behavior at all times to residents and co‑workers.
- Provide direction and supervision of any educational assistant assigned to the classroom.
- Write clear, concise, and descriptive reports, including STI’s, Reports of Contact, Incident Reports, within the predetermined time frame.
- Provide appropriate feedback on the academic and behavioral progress of each student.
- Assist with writing academic and behavioral goals for students with IEP’s.
- Monitor student IEP’s and ILP’s on a quarterly basis.
- Cooperate with other members of St. Joseph’s various treatment teams to design and adjust treatment programs for residents.
- Attend all meetings, workshops and planning sessions as directed.
- Ensure the mission of St. Joseph’s, including the spiritual formation of residents, is an integral part of the healing process.
