Banner Health’s Torrington Community Hospital is looking for a Certified Patient Care Assistant (CNA) to provide administrative support and customer service in an assigned patient care area while promoting efficient delivery of care to patients. The role involves processing patient records, recording bed assignments, creating face sheets, and assisting with the admission process for a 25-bed Critical Access unit. This is a full‑time night shift position (3’ 12’s, 6:00 pm‑6:30 am).
PositionSummary
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contributes to the overall patient plan of care. The incumbent will collect patient data, document it in the medical records, and perform a variety of unit support functions to help the nursing unit/department operate efficiently.
Core Functions- Assists with activities of daily living and promotes patient health by supporting basic hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
- Collects patient specimens and data (vital signs, input/output, etc.) and documents objective data and routine care; assists in specimen transport.
- Recognizes abnormalities and reports changes in patient status to licensed professionals; communicates patient status accurately to other caregivers.
- Performs procedures and uses equipment delegated by a licensed professional, including blood draws, Foley catheter removal, and EKGs, under direct supervision.
- Conducts receptionist/clerical duties to support department efficiency and flow of communication.
- Maintains complete patient records, scans or files chart forms, and ensures forms are labeled and accessible; assists in ordering patient specimens and transcribes/processes physician orders using the electronic medical record.
- Maintains adequate levels of supplies, completes requisition forms, reconciles orders, and monitors electronic equipment (, laptops).
- Assists with transporting patients to critical care units and participates in operating room room turnover, as needed.
- Works under supervision, focusing on customer service while interacting with staff, patients, families, and physicians.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of practice (required for all new hires).
- At least 1 year of medical clerical or customer service experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, computer literacy, and keyboarding skills.
- Depends on department assignment, a minimum passing score of 85% on an ECG or EEG test may be required.
- Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure in Arizona (preferred).
- Recent healthcare experience.
- Completion of an approved unit secretary program.
