Position SummaryThis position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves and those under their direction. The RN utilizes specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and plan patient care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
This is a PRN position on the Medical Surgical unit, with a requirement to cross‑train to Labor & Delivery within 6‑12 months after hire.
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history and physical; collects and reviews diagnostic and laboratory data; reports abnormal results.
- Formulates a plan of care, including discharge, based on assessment data and input from patients, families, and the health care team; sets realistic, measurable goals; revises plan to reflect changing patient needs.
- Implements the plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team; provides care based on physician orders and nursing plan; promotes continuity of care through accurate communication.
- Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises plan of care as needed; assesses patient progress toward goals.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy.
- Provides care based on the best evidence; may participate in research activities; participates in unit or facility leadership; aids in education and orientation of personnel, patients, families, and visitors; mentors when appropriate.
- Contributes to society through activities that improve patient outcomes; engages in continuous quality improvement and professional organizations.
- Supervises staff and workflow as required; interacts with all levels of staff and external contacts; coordinates with clergy for spiritual support.
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum of one year of acute‑care nursing experience in a hospital setting, with experience in the clinical area desired.
- Must be able to operate a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license (for home‑health roles only).
- Ariz. fingerprint clearance card and criminal history affidavit (for Arizona positions only).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
