Construction Bookkeeper — Onsite, Multi-Project Finances

A growing construction company is seeking a Bookkeeper with construction accounting experience to support daily financial operations across multiple active projects. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with ownership and project managers while managing the full accounting cycle in a fast-paced environment.

Full Charge Bookkeeper:

Location: Englewood Cliffs, NJ (Onsite)

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Track job costs, budgets, and project-related expenses across multiple active construction projects.
• Process subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and lien waivers.
• Prepare progress billings, retainage documentation, and support month-end close.
• Process payroll and assist with certified payroll reporting, when applicable.
• Maintain subcontractor compliance documentation, including W-9s and insurance certificates.
• Generate financial reports and support year-end activities with outside accountants.
• Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and financial reporting.

• 3+ years of bookkeeping experience with at least 2 years in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of job costing, construction accounting, progress billings, and lien waivers.
• Experience with accounts payable and receivable in a project-based environment.
• Proficiency with Quick Books (Contractor Edition preferred); experience with Sage or Foundation is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
