Position Summary The Quality Receiving Associate provides advanced support to the Quality Receiving department by helping ensure compliance with GFSI (SQF), FDA, and internal food safety standards. This role focuses on technical documentation review, internal auditing, corrective action coordination, and packaging material testing.

The Quality Receiving Associate serves as a technical resource for the QC team and supports QA/QC leadership with quality projects, audit preparation, and receiving activities as needed. Responsibilities

  • Review and verify daily production, sanitation, and QC records, ensuring entries comply with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and ALCOA+ principles prior to final Supervisor sign-off.
  • Assist with investigations of quality deviations and the drafting of Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) reports. Monitor Hold and Corrective Action logs to support timely closure of open items.
  • Conduct monthly facility audits, GMP walkthroughs, and glass/plastic inspections; document findings and follow up with departments regarding corrective actions and resolution.
  • Assist management in maintaining SQF certification requirements and support audit preparation activities.
  • Provide on-the-floor training and coaching to QC Technicians and Associates regarding sampling protocols and food safety procedures.
  • Support vendor communication related to required quality documentation, including Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and specifications, and assist with supplier compliance evaluations.
  • Lead site-specific quality initiatives, such as Environmental Monitoring swabbing, Allergen Validation, or new equipment verification, as assigned by the QA/QC Lead.
  • Assist the QA department with logistical needs, restocking, and maintaining an organized, audit-ready office and laboratory environment.
  • Execute approved testing protocols for new or alternative packaging materials, including specification verification, visual and dimensional inspection, package/seal integrity, print and coding quality, and production-line performance, as applicable.
  • Document test conditions, observations, results, deviations, and supporting evidence, and prepare comprehensive test reports with clear conclusions and recommendations.
  • Maintain properly identified retention samples of tested packaging materials and finished-product trial samples to ensure traceability and support future quality investigations or evaluations.
  • Support receiving activities as needed. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • 1-2 years of experience in documentation review or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform highly detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of Good Documentation Practices and ALCOA principles:
    Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, and Accurate.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, and familiarity with document control systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across multiple departments.
  • Basic knowledge of packaging materials and packaging quality requirements, including visual inspection, dimensional/specification verification, seal/package integrity, labeling/print quality, and identification of common packaging defects.
  • Ability to execute established packaging material test protocols, accurately document test results, maintain traceable retention samples, and prepare clear test reports with conclusions and recommendations.
