R&D Chemist (Junior Level) – Cosmetics & Skincare
Title: Chemist
Reports to: Director of Color & Innovation
Department: R&D – Color
Responsibility
Summary:
The Chemist will be responsible for analyzing batches, measuring physical parameters such as Viscosity, pH, and Density, interacting with vendors, documenting, collaborating with supervisor, and entering formulation.
- Maintain a lab notebook.
- Make batches.
- Create ingredient qualitative and quantitative list.
- Check next day specification from previous day batch.
- Follow up with on‑going st abilities.
- Communicate with raw material vendors.
- Attend in‑house vendor presentations.
- Enter formulation into the company formulator.
- Review results with supervisor.
- Analyze lab batch measuring physical parameters:
Viscosity, pH, and Density. - Assist in the formulation and development of innovative skin care and color cosmetic products, including line extensions and product improvements.
- Support in color matching and formulation adjustments.
- Support compliance with color regulations and internal quality standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper organization of raw materials and samples.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (or Biology with chemistry and organic chemistry coursework).
- 2–5 years of experience in R&D, formulation, emulsions, and other color product formulations.
- Well organized and highly detail oriented.
- Must work well with others and communicate effectively.
- Strong understanding of cosmetic raw materials, formulation principles, and production equipment.
- Strong color matching skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds.
The approximate pay range for this position is $60,000 – $68,000. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities.
