Title: Chemist

Department: R&D - Skincare

Level: Junior Level / Entry Level

Responsibility

Summary:

The Chemist will be responsible for analyzing batches, measuring physical parameters such as Viscosity, pH, and Density, interacting with vendors, documenting, collaborating with supervisor, and entering formulation.

Responsibilities:

The Chemist supports the R&D Skincare team through a variety of tasks, including:

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date lab notebook
  • Prepare and make lab batches
  • Create qualitative and quantitative ingredient lists
  • Check next-day specifications against the previous day's batch
  • Follow up on ongoing stability studies and report observations
  • Analyze lab batches by measuring physical parameters: viscosity, pH, and density
  • Enter formulations into the company's formulation system
  • Communicate with raw material vendors and attend in-house vendor presentations
  • Manage time effectively to meet batch, testing, and project deadlines
  • Assist in the formulation and development of innovative skin care products, including line extensions and product improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as QA, Regulatory, Production, and Marketing
  • Review results and progress regularly with the supervisor
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper organization of raw materials and samples
  • Follow all laboratory safety, GMP, and internal quality standards
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (or Biology with coursework in general and organic chemistry)
  • 0–3 years of experience in R&D, formulation, and emulsions, ideally in skin care product development
  • Well organized and highly detail-oriented
  • Strong understanding of cosmetic raw materials, formulation principles, and production equipment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Genuine interest and passion for cosmetics and skin care product development
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds
Compensation & Benefits:

The approximate pay range for this position is $60,000 - $68,000. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities.
