Role DescriptionThe Lead Supervisor Carpenter is a full-time, on-site role based in Totowa, NJ. This position is responsible for leading carpentry crews, assigning tasks, and ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and to specification. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, performing advanced carpentry work, overseeing installation of framing, doors, and finishes, and coordinating with subcontractors and site management. The Lead Supervisor Carpenter monitors material usage, maintains a clean and safe job site, and communicates progress, issues, and resource needs to project managers.
This role also supports quality control inspections, resolves onsite construction challenges, and mentors team members to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Strong carpentry skills, including framing, finishing, installation of doors, windows, and trim.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Experience supervising crews, delegating tasks, and coordinating with subcontractors and site leadership.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards, OSHA guidelines, and safe use of tools and equipment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic construction measurement instruments.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with project managers, trades, and clients as needed.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Prior experience as a lead carpenter or supervisor on commercial construction projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training in carpentry is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Totowa, NJ job sites.
