What You Can Expect
As the Solar Technician II, your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems upon arrival at the Solidago Solar plant near Townsend, DE. Your duties encompass repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, and submit on‑site status reports—including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports—and initiate work orders for equipment repairs.
You will adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site‑Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings. Additionally, you will be part of an on‑call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations within qualified skill areas, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Coordinate high‑voltage switching activities with local utilities and ISO, including substation operations, equipment lockouts, and grounding.
- Work independently or as part of a crew to complete assigned tasks across solar power plant systems.
- Utilize SCADA systems and other digital tools for monitoring and diagnostics, along with test equipment such as meggers and IV curve testers.
- Travel to various sites as required to support maintenance and operational needs.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in solar generation sites, wind generation sites, manufacturing or mining operations, or controls & industrial maintenance.
- Must be willing to obtain an AVO substation technician certification within 12 months of hire.
- Ability to work long hours, often outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods.
- Capacity to be on call as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
- This is a field position requiring regular travel to client site(s).
- Requires daily attendance at a worksite.
- Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and outages.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record to operate company vehicles.
- Must comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
- Position consists of 20% indoor work and 80% outdoor work; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions.
- May involve lifting up to 50 lbs.
Hourly Range: $30.00 – $42.00 USD
This is the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. Actual salary offered may vary based on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on‑call pay.
