A Non-Merit vacancy exists in the Department of Housing and Community Development. Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan. A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.
Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants.

Definition of ResponsibilityUnder general supervision of the Ombudsman, provides routine administrative and technical support, such as sorting and distributing mail, answering phones, monitoring all social platforms, and directing visitors.
Essential Duties- Receives and directs incoming telephone calls. Answers inquiries and provides routine information to the public. Receives and directs visitors, and may serve as receptionist.
- Receives, sorts, and delivers intra and inter-office communications, packages, and other materials.
- Performs routine filing of documents according to established office procedures.
- Operates office machinery such as photocopiers and scanners, including performing minor maintenance repairs; operates multi-line telephones, and Elite for retrieval of data.
- Create, curate and manage social media content for BCOH while engaging with followers and clients timely and professionally.
- Monitor and manage online reputation and take necessary action to mitigate negative feedback or comments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalent.
PlusTwo years of administrative, clerical, or customer service experience. Experience as described in the essential duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

- Knowledge and experience in affordable housing programs, leasing and rental office operations, eligibility determination, and data management.
- Ability to communicate orally.
- Ability to learn office procedures.
- Ability to operate office machinery as listed in essential duties.

- Computer literate;
Microsoft programs.
Certified Housing Specialist Certification within 1 year of employment.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and EducationApplicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
