Schedule:
34 hours per week during non-election years, 40+ hours per week during election years.
Under general supervision, performs comprehensive clerical work in support of a County program or agency.
Responsibilities- Assists in the hiring of election judges and schedules their training.
- Assists in proofreading processed batches of registration.
- Prioritizes data processing tasks to assure timely completion in accordance with office policies and procedures.
- Responsible for voter registration applications.
- Assists with special projects including mass mailings, petitions, redistricting, verifications, voter education, canvass election, packing judge supplies and surveys.
- Maintains and secures files daily.
- Assists with the preparation and conduct of elections to meet all deadlines, including but not limited to processing voter registration, provisional ballots, record retention, reports, certificates and other information in accordance with Local, State and Federal laws.
- Operates office machinery, photocopiers, fax machines, and calculators.
- Updates and maintains filing systems, lists, log books and rosters.
- Answers routine inquiries from the public, or directs inquiries to proper agency.
- Collects and compiles technical data and prepares summary statistics.
- Performs occasional light typing or word processing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate high school equivalency plus one year's general clerical experience.
- Additional experience as described in the essential duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education or experience.
- Experience working in an elections office.
Applicants are required to submit proof of driver's license and education beyond high school to meet the qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant’s major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
Examination ProcedureApplicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes. Must be available to work 40 hours/week with some mandatory overtime on evenings and weekends during the Election year.
Physical and Environmental ConditionsThe work of this position involves special physical demands such as lifting 50 pounds or more, climbing ladders, etc.
