Description

The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt’s Towson campus is a specialized inpatient program providing a safe, supportive environment for adolescents, adults, and older adults with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, compulsive overeating, and other eating-related conditions. The interdisciplinary team focuses on stabilization, nutritional rehabilitation, and holistic mental health care, promoting recovery, daily functioning, and safe transitions to home or less restrictive care settings.

The program also engages and educates families to support long-term recovery and quality of life after discharge.

What to expect:

The Psychiatrist at Sheppard Pratt’s Center for Eating Disorders provides specialized psychiatric care to individuals with complex eating disorders across the lifespan. This role involves conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, admission assessments, and risk assessments, prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The Psychiatrist monitors patient progress, adjusts interventions as needed, and ensures coordinated care for optimal outcomes.

In addition to direct clinical care, the Psychiatrist provides therapeutic support to patients and guidance to families, supporting continuity of care and safe transitions to home, outpatient, or other supportive programs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration skills, and the ability to address the unique physical and psychiatric needs of individuals with eating disorders in a compassionate, patient-centered manner.

Specific Responsibilities:

Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and admission physicals for patients with eating disorders.

Prescribe and manage medications and provide individual, group, or family-focused therapies as appropriate.

Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Support safe transitions to home, outpatient, or less restrictive care, engaging patients and families in the process.

What we need from you:

Active Maryland medical license.

  • Board Certification in Psychiatry and a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry certification - if working with adolescents.
  • Completion of a psychiatry residency program with child psychiatry fellowship - if working with adolescents.
  • Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and valid DEA Certificate.

Minimum two years of experience in acute psychiatric settings, including completion of residency; child/adolescent roles require fellowship training - if working with adolescents.

Experience providing care in acute behavioral or crisis settings.

The base pay range for this position is $240,000 minimum to $285,000 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.

Qualifications Education Required

Doctorate or better.

Experience Required

Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and valid DEA Certificate.

Active medical license in the state of Maryland.

Board Certification in Psychiatry.
